The live recording from New York’s Knitting Factory captures noise guru Merzbow in transcendent form, serving the audience with subtle hypnotic pulses to go with rich textures of raw to low frequencies. The immersive baths of sonic clusters, sine wave swoops, rumbling low mids and glissandos jumping off of rooftops diving down to dervish dance of bit fragments offer the listener a rare glimpse of what it means to find soothing charm and calm in the chaos.
Sharing the bill and the stage with Merzbow on September 6, 2005 were the Finnish avant rock mavericks Circle. The serenity of their joint venture, attesting the genuine artistry of both acts, is cut out in mid-flight at approximately twenty-two minute mark due to recording device running out of tape.

CATalysis 4 into Hat 1046 is one of the most blissful noise experiences I've had in quite some time. Transcendent. Brilliant. Nice Finnegan the Fox samples on Haf 1046 (to my ears). Cute cats on the cover. Chef's kiss 100% andrewmeow

One would think it's an unlikely collaboration between genius extraordinaire: MBM's Jack Dangers and noise-meister Merzbow, but you would be wrong! Jack said it himself that this release is a "masterclass in sonic anarchy" which is the polymath of Extinct! Deconstruction is omnipresent, here: ruptured beats, dense noise layers, odd time signatures, and dub textures makes for a cathartic yet chaotic release at the vanguard of music-when taken to extremes-is at the heart of experimental music.
